    LOCAL DIAGNOSTIC OF SECURITY
Matam, Ratoma, Matoto and N'Zérékoré (Guinea, 2014)

Technical Data

The local diagnostic of security is mainly based on a representative survey of 5'082 households run from October 20, 2013, to January 3, 2014 in the four communes of Matam, Ratoma, Matoto and N'Zérékoré-Centre. In each commune, a minimum of 1'200 interviews was conducted. Weights were calculated for cross-communes comparison in the report.

The National Institute of Statistics of the Republic of Guinea draw a sample using pre-census data of 2013 and, in each sector of all quartiers, 6 interviews were collected. The method required using weights in the final data to compensate for demographic disparities between quartiers. Gender quotas were used during the data collection to ensure a 50% representation of both genders. A randomized method was used to identify the respondents in the households.

As the data was collected to allow eventually an impact study of the introduction of community policing in these communes, the zone of the commissariat of Sonfonia was used a potential comparison zone. In this zone, no pilot project of community policing was conducted.
