Technical Data

Mandated by IOM through fundings from the American agency INL, Coginta will run local diagnostics of security in 4 communes of Lubumbashi and Mbuji Mayi in the Democratic Republic of Congo starting in March 2016. The diagnostics will be based mainly on data collected using representative samples and population estimates using satellite data. Experts from the universities of Lubumbashi and Mbuji Maiy will be involved as well as students from these universities. The diagnostics will involve mapping digitally the city of Mbuji Mayi and presenting data in interactives maps using the "cellules" as primary units. The diagnostics will serve as basis for the design of local plans of security in association with IOM and the pilot projects of introducing community policing. Finally, Coginta shall run an impact study in 2017 to measure the effect of the pilot projects.
